LATGALE ZOO STARTS TO RECEIVE VISITORS FROM JULY 7 City news

1155

Due to the improved epidemiological situation, many popular sites of our city, including Latgale Zoo, which was closed for several months, open their doors to visitors again. On July 7, the animal kingdom will open its doors to visitors, and the large family of animals will receive the long-awaited attention.

Of course, the opening of the Zoo does not remove epidemiological safety requirements – not more than 9 people or 9 households may gather at the same time in the premises; they must keep distance and wear face masks, as well as follow signs to the separate exit from the Zoo (linear route). At the same time, part of the exhibition is still being renovated, so it will be possible to see some animals only after a while. For example, Horhe the otter, who recently took special swimming courses, will return to the hydrobiont area soon.

The good news is that while there were no visitors, the staff of the Zoo both repaired and expanded the enclosures and reservoirs and enriched the environment – the most part of it now has appropriate decorative elements, as was planned 30 years ago, when the Zoo opened. With this in mind, visitors will have to look much more carefully, as animals now mimic the environment even better.

Visitors will be able to attend Latgale Zoo according to “live queue” principle (first come, first served), so visitors are asked to treat these inconveniences with understanding. The opening hours of the Zoo have not changed – it is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm, closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (opening hours before and on public holidays can be changed).
