Exhibition “Remember – ReAct. Commemoration of the Holocaust and the fight against anti-Semitism in Sweden” is on display at Daugavpils University

From January 28 to March 5, 2022, the exhibition “Remember – ReAct. Commemoration of the Holocaust and Combating Anti-Semitism in Sweden”, offered by the Swedish Institute, the Swedish Embassy in Latvia and the museum “Jews in Latvia”, is on display at the Daugavpils University (13 Vienibas str,. Daugavpils, 2rd floor).
The exhibition is dedicated to the understanding of the Holocaust in Sweden, its development and its connection with human rights issues. The exhibition shows how anti-Semitism, racism and xenophobia manifest themselves today, how they affect different groups in society, disrupting normal functioning. The Malmö International Forum on Holocaust Remembrance and Combating Antisemitism, held on October 13, 2021, attended by around 50 leaders of European states, was largely devoted to these issues. The exhibition is the result of this forum.

The exhibition shows how the tragedy of the Holocaust, efforts to prevent it and help to survivors have created a modern understanding of human rights, the need to protect them both nationally and internationally.

All interested, especially students of Secondary Schools and University are invited to visit the exhibition. Please register by calling 29748928.

The exhibition was curated by the Swedish Institute (Svenska Institutet) and prepared in Latvian by the museum “Jews in Latvia” with the support of the Swedish Embassy in Latvia. The exhibition is available in Daugavpils, thanks to Daugavpils University.
