ARTIŠOKS festival ended in a creative and sporty atmosphere City news

On the 8th of Setpember young people festival Artišoks took its place in Central Park of Daugavpils. For the second time the festival is annually organised by City Council Youth Department. The festival was opened by Daugavpils city chairperson Žanna Kulakova.

Žanna Kulakova emphasized that the city is forming another beautiful and interesting tradition-Artišoks Festival. It is an important thing for young people to feel themselves interested in their native city; to be able to show their skills and talents, because the festival includes a variety of sports and workshop areas where any youngster can express themselves.

Festival participants were welcomed by the head of General and Vocational Education Department Isupova Marina.

            The festival started with a bicycle race. More than 50 sportists took part in a race, which included City Council vice-chairman Vjačeslavs Širjakovs and his family. Bicycle race started at 13.00 from the Rigas Street. The trip took place around the city and ended at15:00 at the Central Park, where cyclists took part in the festival's opening ceremony.

            Another major sport activity was City Council Boxing Cup.

During the festival a variety of attractions, contests, competitions, fire shows took place, and special guests of the festival were Rassell the Eurovision star Sabine Berezina.
