Specific purpose

The project targets improving health and well-being in Akmene and Daugavpils municipalities, where health indicators lag behind the EU average. By strengthening healthcare professionals’ capacity and engaging community members of all ages, it aims to tackle physical and mental health challenges and promote healthy lifestyles collaboratively.

Common territorial problem/s solved by the project

The project partners will develop new approach and method to encourage healthy habits and monitor residents' health. Public health specialists will receive training on implementing these strategies effectively. Experience-sharing activities, such as meetings on health promotion administration and continuous financing models, training for health specialists across the region will enhance knowledge exchange. The partners will also procure some necessary equipment for healthy lifestyle initiatives, such as exercising means, rowing espander, hygiene habit kits, harmful habit prevention models, etc. Pilot-testing the methodology will involve organizing public events, such as physical activity, mental health and healthy lifestyle promotion events, retreats for elderly people, summer camps for youth, Nordic walking and hiking tours for wide public in Lithuania and Latvia.

Purpose of the project

To improve the health and well-being of communities in the Latvian-Lithuanian cross-border region by strengthening the capacity of health promotion professionals to solve public health problems and increasing the participation of community members of all ages in physical, mental and healthy lifestyle activities.

Planned activities

·         Purchase of exercise equipment;

·         Gymnastics groups for communities;

·         Health promotion experience exchange events in Daugavpils, Latvia and Akmenes region, Lithuania;

·         Development of a population health promotion monitoring model and introduction of new health promotion methods for the community;

Project is a funded Interreg VI-A Latvia–Lithuania Programm 2021–2027

Total project budget - 280 020.25 EUR

ERDF co-financing 80% - 224 016.20 EUR
