Sport in Daugavpils
Daugavpils has always been a city with a long and rich sports tradition. The city boasts a range of sportsmen that are famous in Latvia and abroad. Daugavpils is the city where everyone can choose the kind of sport that suits his/her interests. Daugavpils houses 
‘Locomotive', the only Speedway club in Latvia. Several rounds of World Championship in Speedway took place in Daugavpils; Grand Prix rounds of World Championship are the most significant annual events in Latvian sports.
Sportsmen of Daugavpils - young light athletes, heavy athletes, representatives of fighting disciplines, marksmen, fencers, swimmers and representatives of other sport disciplines participate in international sports competitions, where they regularly win top awards, it can therefore be assumed that sports in Daugavpils has a bright future ahead.
